DRIVE-IN
RACKING:
Tombacco
Marketing, Spanish subsidiary of the
Italian parent company Tombacco, has
recently installed drive-in pallet
racking in its 5000 pallet-capacity
warehouse. The new system allows the
company to gain substantial storage
space as well as improve product
quality, given that items are no longer
stores on the warehouse floor. In view
of its success, the parent company has
opted to upgrade its facilities in San
Doná di Piave, close to Venice, with
similar installations.
The
developed surface area of the Gerona
centre covers 4,600m2 (250m2 devoted to
offices), of which some 3,100m2 are
taken up by the warehouse. The company
has installed a complex of drive-in
racks measuring 100m long, 23m wide and
a maximum of 8.5m high. The warehouse
has 98 lanes with five and six load
levels in height and nine in depth, with
a capacity for 4,948 pallets measuring
100mm x 1200mm x 1200mm and a maximum
load of 400kg per unit.
