HIGH BAY PALLET
RACKING:
Germans Boada, the
construction tools and
machinery manufacturer
and distributor, has
used an effective yet
rather uncommon approach
to designing its new
facilities in Tarragona
(Spain). The design of
entire production plan
and warehouse facilities
came about through a
group effort, involving
both the contributions
of those responsible for
engineering, together
with input from a number
of businesses who would
eventually become the
Company’s warehousing,
storage and computer
solutions suppliers.
Once the logistics and
manufacturing
requirements has been
set, the company was on
its way with the
construction of its
22,000m2 facility.
The
picking warehouse has a
surface area of 6,000m2
and houses the stock
used in order
preparation. In this
case, the racking, which
can hold up to 2,448
pallets, measures 50.5
meters in length by 52
meters in width by 6.5
meters in height. One
shelving unit has been
reserved for manual
picking, which has 141
picking levels, each of
which can hold up to
600kg of weight.
Merchandise is also
dispatched from this
bay, and each of the
carriers that the
Catalan company works
with has its own
assigned docks and
exits.
