NAVARRA
SELF
SUPPORTED AUTOMATED WAREHOUSE
The frozen
vegetable processing company Congelados
de Navarra has doubled its sub-zero
storage capacity with the implementation
of an automated self-supporting
warehouse featuring a height of 33
meters and a storage capacity for nearly
9,000 pallets. With the new
installation, forklift operators will no
longer be required to work in conditions
of extreme cold (-20oC). Handling of
goods is averted, and in this way, order
is improved and pallet breakage is
minimized.
The
Congelados de Navarra warehouse is
composed of four aisles of shelves and
four stacker cranes. The facility’s
total capacity is 8,944 pallets, with a
maximum weight of 1,000kg per unit. All
items are stored equally on the four
aisles, so that a robot breakdown cannot
stall placement or removal of any
particular item. The silo works with
1,000 different items, the turnover of
which fluctuates between one day and a
year, depending on the product.
